Sanchez was a surprise absentee from Brighton’s matchday squad for last weekend’s win at Arsenal and will not be involved for Thursday’s clash with Newcastle United.ĭe Zerbi claims it was Sanchez’s decision to not be currently involved with the first team after falling behind Steele in the pecking order. Sanchez remained as Brighton’s first-choice keeper for the first six months of De Zerbi’s reign, but he now looks set to follow in Ryan’s footsteps as Jason Steele has stolen his starting spot. He soon went on to displace Matt Ryan as the club’s number one and managed 27 appearances that season, keeping 10 clean sheets. The shot-stopper made his Seagulls debut in November 2020. After graduating from the Brighton academy, he had loan spells at Forest Green and Rochdale to pick up senior experience. Sanchez joined Brighton U18s from Levante’s youth setup in July 2013. Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is set to leave the club this summer after falling out of favour with manager Roberto De Zerbi, TEAMtalk understands.
